The Third Year at the Duke School of Medicine provides M.D. program students the opportunity to dig deep into biomedical-related research. The results of these research projects are presented annually at the Medical Student Research Symposium. Now in its 55th year, the symposium, held this year on August 1 – 2nd in the Trent Semans Center for Health Education, highlights the unique scholarly accomplishments of third year medical students. Medical student posters from 2020 – present are available in the Medical Center Archives’ MEDSpace digital repository of scholarly works from the institution.
These 559 posters reflect the broad variety of third year medical students’ scholarly and research experiences. This partnership between the School of Medicine and the Medical Center Library & Archives makes student posters available to those with a Duke NetID year round. The current symposium’s posters are available to everyone via the repository for a month after the symposium. This important collection was launched as a way to hold the symposium during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and will continue in order to document and preserve student research.
