There are several methods for accessing the Library’s electronic resources from off-campus locations or any location where there is Internet access.
Many times when you click on a resource, you will be asked to simply sign in with your NetID and password. This is called EZProxy.
Other times, you may not be able to connect to databases or journal articles without first signing in, which tells our resources that you are a Duke user. Generally you have two options, which appear below: the Duke University Web-based VPN, or the Duke Medicine Web-based VPN. Details and requirements for accessing each are below.
Use http://portal.duke.edu/, the Duke University Web-based VPN
Note: Micromedex is behind a Duke Medicine firewall and will not work with this option.
Use https://vpn.duhs.duke.edu/, the Duke Medicine Web-based VPN
Download the free Cisco AnyConnect app for your device. The Web-based VPNs will not work on mobile devices.
