Starting a new research project without a reporting guideline can feel daunting – a bit like driving without Google Maps. You may have a vague sense of where to go and what you need to do, but the details and street names are a bit hazy. 

Thankfully, numerous "roadmaps" for health research studies exist. The EQUATOR Network has helpfully gathered these reporting guidelines all in one convenient location and includes reporting guidelines for case reports (CARE), quality improvement studies (SRQR), observational studies (STROBE), randomized controlled trials (CONSORT), and systematic reviews (PRISMA), among others....

ECRI Guidelines Trust: Tool to Access Clinical Practice Guidelines

The ECRI Guidelines Trust is a new portal to access evidence-based clinical practice guidelines summaries. The ECRI Institute, a non-profit organization focused on bringing applied scientific research to healthcare, created this guideline repository in response to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s (AHRQ) loss of funding for National Guideline Clearinghouse (NGC) in July 2018. For 20 years, ECRI Institute worked with AHRQ to develop and maintain the NGC website.

Developed independently from NGC, Guidelines Trust is a growing resource that includes clinical practice guidelines that meet the following inclusion criteria:

    National Guideline Clearinghouse Shutting Down July 2018

    Due to a loss of federal funding for this AHRQ resource, the National Guideline Clearinghouse (NGC) Website will be permanently unavailable beginning July 16, 2018. As this repository of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines has been a valuable resource for Duke health professionals, we want to make sure you can still access the information you need to provide quality patient care.

    Our Guidelines section on the Clinical Tools page links to general practice and specialty guidelines.  Many other databases also provide access to guidelines including PubMed, CINAHL, DynaMed Plus...

    New AAP Guidelines for Depression in Teens

    The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recently released new guidelines recommending yearly screenings for depression in teenagers. These guidelines come after studies indicated that approximately 50 percent of adolescents with depression are diagnosed before reaching adulthood, and as much as 66 percent of depressed teenagers don’t get any help or care.

    2017 Guideline for High Blood Pressure
