Welcome New Trainees, Students, Staff, and Faculty!

We’re so glad you’re here! The Duke Medical Center Library & Archives is more than just a place for books—it’s a hub for discovery, collaboration, and support. Whether you need evidence-based resources, expert help with research, or a quiet place to study or work, we’re here to help you succeed.

As you get started, here are our top tips.

💻 Bookmark our website. It’s your gateway to journals, eBooks, databases, and more—no paywalls! If you're off-site, just log in with your NetID. Look for the GetIt@Duke button in databases like PubMed and CINAHL to access full-text articles.

👋 Connect with your liaison librarian. Our liaisons are aligned with most programs and serve as your point person at the Library. We can help you search the literature, stay current, and even collaborate on systematic reviews (if it’s not for an assignment). We have guides tailored for:

clinicians and trainees
medical students
nursing
physician assistant
physical therapy
occupational therapy
global health
population health
researchers
master of biomedical sciences
pathologists' assistants

📱 Set up your medical apps. Apps like UpToDate and Lexidrug require special setup. Use the Duke-specific links on our website to create your accounts so they're recognized as Duke-affiliated.

📬 Sign up for our quarterly newsletter. Stay in the loop with library news, new resources, and upcoming classes.

🛠️ Explore our guides and YouTube videos. We offer a lot of topic-specific help on a variety of topics such as searching databases, conducting systematic reviews, managing citations, creating a Biosketch, and finding/sharing data.

Questions? Just ask!

We’re happy to help or connect you with the right person. Email us anytime at medical-librarian@duke.edu. If you are having trouble getting access to the BLS/ACLS before you officially start, learn more about this issue.
