NIH Delays Implementation of New SciENcv BioSketch

We have been preparing our community for the May 25, 2025 start date that would have required NIH applicants to use the Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae (SciENcv) to create and submit biosketches and Current and Pending Other Support documents. SciENcv is an online profile system for researchers involved with federal research funding. The original implementation date of May 25, 2025 has been postponed by NIH. Changes Coming to NIH Applications and Peer Review in 2025

The NIH is implementing several changes to grant applications and peer review processes in 2025. These changes will affect how grants are submitted and reviewed. For the latest updates, visit their Changes Coming For 2025 webpage.
Summary of Changes in 2025:
- Simplified Review Framework: A new, streamlined framework for the peer review of most research project grant (RPG) applications will begin with submissions due on or after January 25, 2025.

Coming in May 2025: New NIH Biosketch Requirements

Attention NIH researchers—the NIH is adopting the use of Common Forms for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support to be used with all applications and Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPRs) by May 25, 2025. Establishing Common Forms is a collaborative effort between Federal research agencies to harmonize disclosure requirements related to biographical sketches & Current and Pending (Other) Support, as described in the National Security Presidential Memorandum – 33.

Use SciENcv for Your Biosketch!

Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae (SciENcv) is a system for creating and updating your NIH or NSF biosketch. The biosketch documents your qualifications and experience for a specific role or project and is required for all NIH and NSF grant applications.
Use of SciENcv to create biosketches will be required for NSF proposals submitted on or after October 23, 2023. Please see the NSF policy announcement for more information.
