It’s election season! The 2024 General Election is on Tuesday, November 5 with the early voting period open from Thursday, October 17 through Saturday, November 2

  • Karsh Alumni and Visitors Center on Duke’s campus will serve as an early voting location in Durham County from October 17 through November 2. Duke students, faculty, and staff who are eligible and registered to vote in Durham County are encouraged to utilize the early voting location at Karsh. All other early voting locations across the state can be found here. During the early voting period, voters can cast their ballot at any early voting location in the county where they are registered. Karsh is NOT an Election Day polling place. On Election Day voters must cast a ballot at their assigned polling location
  • If you haven't registered to vote, same-day registration is available at polling locations during the early voting period. Additional information about registering to vote during the early voting period can be found here.
  • North Carolina voters are required to show a valid form of photo ID at the polls. Acceptable forms of ID include an NC driver’s license, an out-of-state driver’s license if you registered to vote in North Carolina within 90 days of the election, a U.S. Passport or Passport Card, an NC voter ID card issued by the county board of elections, and others. The State Board of Elections also approved the physical DukeCard and Duke Student Voter ID Card as valid forms of ID for students. The DukeCard Office and Duke Votes are assisting students with obtaining a state-approved physical identification card from Duke if they need one to vote in the election. Students who need an approved Duke ID card can find more information here.
