For the past three years, the Duke Medical Center Library & Archives has hosted a holiday book drive to benefit the Durham Public Schools (DPS) Hospital School library. This year, we were delighted to partner with our community of students, staff, and faculty to make an even greater impact.

The Hospital School and the Medical Center Library & Archives are deeply grateful for the incredible generosity of our community. Thanks to your support, the Hospital School Library has met its collection development goals for this year. Thirty-six books from their wish list have been added to the library, making a meaningful difference in the lives of children undergoing treatment at Duke University Hospital.

Duke University was established in 1924 when James B. Duke, through the Indenture of Trust, designated a gift that transformed Trinity College into a comprehensive research university. On November 6th, the Medical Center Library was filled with joy and excitement as we welcomed back Stampede of Love and their beloved miniature horses, Lola and Kiwi! With over 400 attendees joining us, the atmosphere was lively and full of smiles as everyone had the chance to meet these adorable equine friends.

Attendees enjoyed taking photos with Lola and Kiwi, creating unforgettable memories. To add to the fun, we also had mini horse buttons (from our new button maker!) that everyone loved, making the day even more special.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support this event! We can’t wait to see you again for more hoof-tapping fun in the future!

The miniature horses, from Stampede of Love, are making a grand return to the Medical Center Library on November 6th from 11am to 1pm! These tiny trotters are ready to prance their way into your hearts and bring a whole lot of joy and laughter.

Whether you’re a horse whisperer or just love all things adorable, this event is sure to stirrup some excitement. Come by for a nuzzle, a photo op, and a chance to de-stress with our four-legged friends. It’s the perfect way to rein in some relaxation during your busy week.
