The Medical Center Library offers many reservable spaces, including study rooms, single cubicles, group cubicles, a larger collaboration room, and an audio/video studio. Rooms can be reserved in advance or once you arrive.

For booking in advance, use our online system, first selecting the type of space you need, then selecting the date and time.

For booking on site, you can use our kiosks on levels 1, 2 or 3, or simply walk up to the space you want to book and scan the QR code on the door to get started.

Study rooms and cubicles require you to "check in" with a code to confirm your reservation.

Study spaces are reservable during the day only. After hours usage is first-come, first-served.

As the weather gets warmer, we invite you to visit our terrace on the north side of the Seeley Mudd building, facing Duke Hospital, to explore the garden. The Medical Center Library's garden emphasizes the close ties between botany and medicine and provides students and scholars with an introduction to the importance of plants in medicine.

Graduation is an important and exciting time of change for many students. Sadly, one of these changes may involve losing access to many Duke resources such as library subscriptions to journals and databases.

Before You Lose Access

• Go through your saved citations and PDFs and decide which ones you want to keep. If there are any articles that you would like to get PDFs for, do this before you leave while you still have access to free full text.
• Evaluate your citation manager needs before you leave. If you are using Endnote, double-check that you have the most current version on a personal device. This access will last you for a couple years, but you will have to repurchase it at some…

A new collection in MEDSpace highlights student and trainee scholarship from across the Duke School of Medicine. 

This collection brings together poster presentations and other scholarly work spanning a wide range of clinical topics and research areas. It offers a glimpse into the depth and variety of work being produced by students and trainees across Duke SOM programs. 

MEDSpace, the Medical Center Archives’ digital repository, provides access to Duke Medicine publications, images, and historical materials, making it easier to discover and share this work.

Web of Science (WoS), produced by Clarivate, indexes more than 79 million records across the sciences, social sciences, and arts and humanities. Its databases also include citation types such as datasets, patents, conference proceedings, and books, with coverage dating back to 1900. Web of Science can be used for comprehensive literature searches, citation tracking, and evaluating research impact.

The Duke Research Data Repository (RDR) has a fresh new look! The RDR—run by Duke University Libraries—recently completed its migration to the TIND RDM platform, bringing smoother deposit workflows and new tools for managing and sharing research data. The RDR is a fully open access general data repository and is not appropriate for sensitive or restricted data such as personally identifiable or personal data health information.

Whether you’ve deposited data before or are considering it for the first time, this upgrade is worth a look. Check out:

March is Women’s History Month! Learn more about Duke history by checking out our online exhibit: Women in Duke Health.

This exhibit highlights women in multiple fields at Duke, many of which were pioneers or firsts in their disciplines. It looks at their stories and the context in which those stories took place through oral histories. We encourage you to listen to the recordings or read the transcripts of these women talking about their experiences.   

Further historical perspective is presented through individual profiles and interviews, a general timeline of events, and background interviews conducted with people who have a longtime view of Duke Medicine.

Did you know there is a lactation room available in the Medical Center Library? This dedicated space provides a clean, secure, and user-friendly environment for nursing parents who need to pump or nurse during their time on campus. The room is equipped with comfortable seating, electrical outlets, and privacy features; users must bring their own pumps. This initiative aligns with the library’s commitment to supporting the health and well-being of the Duke community.

The lactation room is 104B Seeley Mudd building. This is Level 1 of the library, located near the computer classroom.
