The Pitt Watch Party

Join us for a weekly watch party of the Pitt!

Each Friday from January 9th to April 17th, we will take a break, breathe, and enjoy the newest episode together. We will be providing free popcorn for the Season Premiere showing (1/9) and Season Finale showing (4/17)! As a plus, we will have buttons of your favorite characters!! We hope to see you there!

Journal Subscription Cancellations Effective January 1, 2026

Journal Cancellations Effective January 1, 2026

Due to recent budget cuts, Duke University Medical Center Library must make difficult decisions regarding our subscription resources. After a thorough review of multi-year usage data and subscription costs, we have decided to cancel the journals listed below.

What This Means

Effective January 1, 2026, Duke will no longer maintain active subscriptions to these titles. You will continue to have access to all content published during the years we held subscriptions. Content published in 2026 and beyond will not be available through Duke Libraries.

Holiday Hours 2025

During the winter holiday period, Library services will be closed:

  • Monday, December 22 - Friday, December 26 
  • Thursday, January 1 – Friday, January 2

Students and faculty of the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, and Watts College of Nursing, as well as Graduate Medical Education trainees, have 24/7 building access during this period. Regular library services and building access resume January 5.

A Year in Review: 2025 Additions to the Duke University Medical Center Archives

The Duke University Medical Center Archives (DUMCA) actively collects the official records of the DUMC and DUHS departments and divisions, including a variety of materials that provide evidence of business, interests, and activities through the years. In doing so, the DUMCA serves as the institutional memory of the DUMC and DUHS by collecting, preserving, and making accessible materials that provide evidence of day to operations. Guided by our collection development policy, we strive to document the intellectual, administrative, social, cultural, and visual history of the DUMC and DUHS in order to provide evidence of past actions and contribute to an understanding of the structure and history of the DUMC and DUHS.

Starting January 25th: NIH Biosketch & Other Support Forms Must Be Prepared Using SciENcv

The NIH will require Common Forms—Biosketch and Current & Pending (Other) Support—for all applications and RPPRs submitted on or after January 25, 2026. Please see NOT-OD-26-018  for more information.

What this means for researchers:

  • Applicants and Recipients must use SciENcv (Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae) to prepare and certify NIH Biosketch and Current & Pending (Other) Support forms, generating digitally certified PDFs for application submission.
  • All senior/key personnel must link their ORCID iD to their eRA Commons account

Borrowing Resources the Library Does Not Own

Are you looking for a full-text article or a physical book that the Medical Center Library does not own?? We have a service that will help! 

To order resources that the library does not own, you can utilize our InterLibrary Loan Service. Here are a few highlights of this service: 

  • You can submit requests for full-text PDFs online
  • There is no charge to Duke students, faculty, or staff 
  • Includes journal articles and book chapters delivered to you as emailed PDF links
  • 1 to 4 day turn-around for most requests (larger requests may take longer than 4 days to fill)

Departmental Histories at the Archives: The Importance of Transferring Photographic Materials

The Archives recently received an addition to the Department of Pediatric Records, and while the collection contains a variety of administrative, financial, research, photographic, correspondence, planning, and architectural files, the bulk of the materials recently transferred are photographs, both candid and group.

Photographic materials, e.g., prints, negatives, contact sheets, lantern slides, 35mm slides, and more, serve as a visual memory, recording a moment in time that a written record cannot document. Transferring departmental photographs and other photographic materials to the Archives not only enhances the Archives’ holdings by strengthening our collections, but it also improves retrieval of these…
