We are pleased to announce the launch of the Vaccination in Modern America: Misinformation vs. Public Health Advocacy Web Archive. Developed by health sciences librarians at the University of Pennsylvania and Duke University, both members of the Ivy Plus Libraries Confederation, the archive preserves Web pages representing the current state of public discourse and contrasting approaches to authority on vaccination in the United States, with a focus on sites that are both pro- and anti-vaccination. The purpose of this collection is to capture potentially ephemeral information about vaccination that could be used by health service researchers, information scientists, sociologists, and others to understand the motivations, practices, and outcomes of health information and information on the Web.
Web Archives preserve vulnerable information that may disappear from the live Web and capturse the ways in which selected Websites have evolved over time. The Ivy Plus Libraries Confederation’s Web Resources Collection Program is a collaborative collection development effort to build curated, thematic collections of freely available, but at-risk, Web content in order to support research at participating Libraries and beyond. To learn more about the program and explore additional collections, visit the Ivy Plus Libraries Confederation.
