Step 1: Access your UpToDate account
- Always access UpToDate through the Library’s website or while on the Duke network. Here’s the direct link: UpToDate (Duke login required)
- Once in UpToDate, click Sign In in the upper right corner.
Step 2: Navigate to MOC settings
- Click the down arrow next to your name in the top right corner.
- Select My Account from the drop-down menu.
- In the pop-up window, go to CME/MOC/STATE and select CME home.
- From the left-hand menu, scroll down and click Settings.
- Select MOC Boards.
Step 3: Add your ABIM credentials
- Click Add a MOC Board and select American Board of Internal Medicine.
- Enter your six-digit ABIM ID number and date of birth (must match your ABIM record exactly).
- Click Save to link your accounts.
Step 4: Redeem your credits in UpToDate
After linking your accounts, you must redeem CME credits within UpToDate to have them submitted to ABIM for MOC points.
- Go to your CME dashboard by clicking CME (next to your name).
- Click Redeem Now for credits you’ve already reflected on, or Select Credits to complete reflections for new activities.
- Your redeemed credits will be automatically submitted to ABIM. Track progress in the MOC Status and History section.
After submission
- Approval: Processing may take up to 48 hours by ABIM.
- Monthly notifications: ABIM emails a monthly CME/MOC summary; real-time updates are available in your ABIM Physician Portal.
- 100-point requirement: Earn 100 MOC points every five years to maintain certification, in addition to meeting assessment requirements.
