Did you know that last year's flu season was the worst in over a decade? However, recent CDC guidance has suggested that vaccines, the strongest and safest tool we have to combat severe and life-threatening infections, are unsafe and has removed several vaccine recommendations. It's important to remember there are sources of information that will always be evidence-based and up to date.
Professional societies, such as the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) release practice advisories and vetted patient education tailored for pregnant people. The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) also releases an annual vaccine guide. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) provides a detailed recommended schedule for individuals under the age of 18. The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) provides a similar schedule for adults.
If you're struggling to find recommendations or suitable education materials for your patients, consider reaching out to a medical librarian!
