For the past three years, the Duke Medical Center Library & Archives has hosted a holiday book drive to benefit the Durham Public Schools (DPS) Hospital School library. This year, we’re inviting students, staff, and faculty to join us in making an even greater impact!
The DPS Hospital School serves children from preschool through 12th grade who are inpatients or outpatients at Duke University Hospital, bringing a sense of normalcy and joy to their lives.
Your donation will help expand the library’s collection with much-needed science books and popular new picture books, supporting year one of their five-year collection development plan.
How to Donate
- Purchase a book from the DPS Hospital School’s Amazon wish list and either:
- Drop it off in the collection box at the Medical Center Library service desk (2R).
- Ship it directly to the DPS Hospital School Library (details on the wish list).
- Buy locally from bookstores like Regulator, Flyleaf, or Golden Fig, then drop off your book at the Library. (Be sure to mark the book as purchased on Amazon!)
- Donate a gift card (Amazon or any bookstore) to help the library buy books later. Drop off physical or printed gift cards at the Library.
Key Dates:
- Drop-off deadline: Friday, December 20, 2024.
- Amazon orders accepted through: January 1, 2025.
