International Open Access Week: Oct. 24-30

Open Access (OA) Week is a great reason for everyone to learn more about the many benefits of Open Access and share what we have learned with friends and colleagues. This year’s theme, Open for Climate Justice, encourages “connection and collaboration among the climate movement and the international open community” and is the ideal opportunity to “join together, take action, and raise awareness around how open can be a means for climate justice.”

NIH Data Sharing & Reuse Webinar: Oct. 14 @ 12p ET

The new NIH Policy on Data Management and Sharing takes effect in January 2023. To help researchers across disciplines prepare, the NIH is hosting monthly Webinars with examples of how others have integrated data sharing and other open science principles into their work. Voter Registration Events at Duke: Sept. 29 & Oct. 6

Duke Health is offering several opportunities for faculty, staff, and students to register to vote in the November 8, 2022 election.

Voter registration events will take place at Duke University Hospital, Duke Regional Hospital and Duke Raleigh Hospital on Thursday, September 29th from 11am-2pm. A voter registration table will also be available at the Duke Farmer’s Market on Thursday, October 6th from 11am-2pm.

The events are hosted in coordination with You Can Vote, a nonpartisan voter mobilization organization. For additional information about registering to vote in North Carolina, visit the State Board of Elections website or vote.duke.edu.

Your Story Matters! Documenting COVID-19 at Duke

COVID-19 has changed and disrupted our lives, at Duke and around the world. On campus, most students have returned home, classes are online, and all events are cancelled. Many staff are working from home; others that are deemed essential continue to work on campus. The hospital is preparing for an influx of people infected with COVID-19. Duke researchers are trying to find ways to fight the disease, from identifying treatments to creating better protective equipment.

And we all live with the fear of the physical impact of the virus, both for ourselves and our families.
